Distance Education

Here are several papers that discuss a Virtual Seminar in Distance Education in which I have been involved.

• Paper presented at the International Council of Open and Distance Education Conference (ICDE 99) in Vienna.
• Paper presented at the North American Web Course Developer's Conference (NAWEB99) in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Here are some of the distance education projects I have been working on lately:

• A Master of Distance Education degree offered by University of Maryland University College beginning in January, 2000. This is a tremendously exciting project that I am heading up (and in which I am chief cook and bottle washer). It is the direct outcome of the Virtual Seminar (mentioned above) and it involves a partnership with my colleague Ulrich Benath, who is the Director of the Distance Education Center at Carl von Ossietzky Unversity of Oldenburg, Germany.

• A world-wide, web-based professional development course for university faculty on Distance Education. This is a description of a 10 week Virtual Seminar for faculty from around the world.

• A world-wide, web-based computer conference on Developing Courses for the World Wide Web. This conference had over 450 people registered from over 20 countries. This is a read-only archive of the conference.
